The Sun Of Mist: 02 ►NEW CHALLENGES CALL FOR A NEW RESPONSE

Published: 12.04.2020

Man has two kinds of vision- constructive and destructive. The constructive approach awakens a man's creative powers and keeps him gainfully employed in some useful activity. The negative approach manifests itself in two ways: capacity for doubt and non-acceptance, and the paralysis of despair. Creativity and the capacity for doubt give a unique flavour to a man's personality. Frustration and incapacity for action are the great defects. If man carries with him both his virtues and vices into the 21st century, then there is little possibility of a fundamental change in times to come.

Modern man is completely fed up with certain things of 20thcentury. A total revaluation is possible only if he gives the past a go-bye, and evolves for himself an altogether new philosophy of life. What is the quality of that vision which would bring about a fundamental change? It may be briefly out-lined as follows:

The mind of man must be actuated by goodwill and non-violence

Man's commitment to truth is so deep and abiding so as not to be shaken in any extremity

His daily conduct and business must be straight forward

The mind must be innocent and pure untouched by corruption or Criminality

Total freedom from attachment or any kind of tension.

These are the eternal human values. A man living in accordance with these values will never exploit anyone, will never succumb to drug-addiction, will suffer no perversion in food and drink; he will not be possessive and will never kill another. He will not misspend his time, nor be cruel.

It is needless superfluity and utter destitution which destroy a man's peace. ln the present age, some people have too much, and they live in luxury; others live in extreme poverty and become ruthless and desperate. If the entrants to the 21st century can evolve directly an altogether new approach and, freeing themselves from the extremes of superfluity and destitution, can find a balanced way of living, their life would be really meaningful. lf, however, man continues to be what he is, it makes no difference whether he lives in the 21st century or the 121st.
