Primary and Secondary Goal:

In order to accomplish the primary goal i.e. experience the soul, it is important to resolve both physical and mental issues. For each problem, there is a unique solution. Therefore, there can be multiple problems, and thus leading to multiple objectives as a solution of those. One of these objectives will be primary while others are secondary. Both will need to be addressed to realize the ultimate goal.

Let us illustrate this with an example: A person was traveling from Mumbai to Ladnun. The primary objective was to reach Ladnun but there could be many secondary objectives, such as, meeting a friend in Jaipur on the way, or to buy certain things along the way etc. In the context of meditation, the secondary objective is physical health.

One aspect of meditation is treatment or therapy of physical health. Many people come to Preksha meditation workshops just to improve physical health rather than to experience or purify the soul. One must understand that the main objective of Preksha Meditation is to experience or purify the soul. Improvement in physical health is an incidental benefit. Through the practice of meditation, a person can shed Karmas and improve physical health as well. Their primary goal should be shedding the Karmas and purity of Sanskars not only physical health. Ideally, it will bring both physical health and purity.
