There is no gainsaying the fact that human beings have now become old and decrepit. An old and decrepit building needs to be repaired, otherwise it poses a grave threat. The same applies to men. Therefore it makes pleasant sense to conceive of a new type of man. The new man will automatically result in a new world. But it is futile to think that the new man will emerge from reform and transformation. He will have to be created anew. This thought has made people curious to know what the new man will be like.
I directed Acharya Mahaprajna to present a model of the new man. He is not the type who would fail to carry out the given direction. He often tells me, 1 do precisely what I am directed to do.' It is a rare combination of a director and a performer. This three-week series of discourses is the outcome of the same direction. The book New Man: Mew World can be taken as a model.
The new man's code of conduct is the code of conduct of nonviolence. The latter is Anuvrats code of conduct, for that alone can be the new man's code of conduct. Preksha is an exercise aimed at enabling man to adopt this code of conduct. Jeevān Vigyan is a process of harmonizing theory and practice. It is possible to create the new man with the help of Anuvrat, Preksha Dhyan and Jeevan Vigyan. The present book is written on the above theme.
Some people see Acharya Mahaprajna as another Vivekanand. I hold Vivekanand in high regard. Even so, I want Mahaprajna to be allowed to remain Mahaprajna. The word Mahaprajna is in itself so dignified that it does not require to be compared with anything else. This book will be the worth attempt if it opens new directions in accordance with the model of the new man and a new world, presented by Mahaprajna on the basis of his deep intuitive knowledge.
