About Maestro Sudhir Narain:
Sudhir Narain is an accomplished Ghazal and Bhajan singer from Agra, India. Trained under the able guidance of Late Ustad Shabbir Ahmed Khan of Agra Gharana, Sudhir has been performing worldwide for audiences for the last 25 years. He has performed in more than 1500 concerts worldwide including the USA, Canada, UK, Trinidad, Tanzania and Kenya.
Also known for his excellent music direction and arrangement, he has recorded music scores for Ballets based on Indian music which were visualized, directed and staged in Canada. Besides sharing his talent, Sudhir has been incessantly working to promote Indian music by creating interest in classical and semi classical music among present day audiences, specially youth, in his home town as well as abroad.
Sudhir is essentially a great performing and recording artist. He has a deep and rich voice having unfathomed bass. In singing, he emphasizes specifically on the sweetness and meaningful combinations of notes. His performance leaves an indelible impression on the audience because of his capacity and capability to bring out the soul of the lyrics to the forefront through his powerful rendition. His classical training also reflects vividly in his performances presenting original compositions as well as traditional style.
Some of the prestigious honors he has been awarded are:
1- “Academy Award” for 2007 by Uttar Pradesh ‘Sangeet Natak Academy’
2-“Paul Harris Fellow” by the Rotary International in United States for his services towards doing charities through musical concerts for the eradication of Polio in India and for the Uttarakhand disaster relief
3-On behalf of the Legislature of Ontario, Canada, a certificate of appreciation for Sudhir’s splendid artistry in the rendition of ghazals, was given by Mr Amrit Mangat M.P.P of Mississauga-Brampton South.
4- Canada’s House of Commons Member of Parliament Mr Bradd Butt has honored Sudhir by giving a certificate of appreciation recognizing him for his musical contributions to the south Asian community
5-the “KALA BHUSHAN” by the B.R.Ambedkar University of Agra for excellence in the field of music,
6-Asian Television Network (Canada) for spreading Indian music in foreign lands
7-Manohar Performing Arts of Canada for his contribution to Indian music.
8- SUR SAADHNA SAMMAN (by Chitranshi organization) given to Sudhir at the hands of the noted Urdu poet Majrooh Sultanpuri.
9- Urdu Majlis of USA has also awarded him for his contribution to Ghazals.
