Before the age of television and computer, the chief source of entertainment for children used to be the stories told by their grandparents. After dinner, the children would surround one of the elderly people to listen to different stories that not only entertained but also inculcated moral and spiritual values into their lives. But in this age of science and technology, the art of story telling is becoming scarce. The typical audience is now engrossed in the world of television, internet and video games. There is a huge amount of material amusement but very little moral instruction.
Stories, whether historical, mythological or fictions, have the power to attract people of all ages. Difficult concepts can be easily conveyed through stories and their message ingrained in the heart of the listeners. Many interesting stories interspersed with spiritual knowledge and moral message are available in Jain Aagams. I have made a humble attempt to translate some of these into simple English. Prior to this collection, "Journey into Jainism" has also been published and well received by readers of all ages......
Acharya Shri Mahapragya inspired and encouraged me to translate these stories. It is only by his grace, that this compilation became possible. I am also very grateful to Yuvacharya Mahashraman and Sadhvi Pramukha Kanakprabha for their blessings. The contribution of Samani Akshay Prajna and Samani Sanmati Prajna in editing and publication of this book cannot be overlooked. Mr. Shantilal Daga from Delhi helped me a lot in computerizing this material. Mukta Jain of Houston, Texas has helped extensively with the artwork ofthebook.
I hope, this book will guide people of all ages and help them in the betterment of their lives.
