Kolkata - Celebration Of Collective Forgiveness Day

On 25th September 2005, a collective forgiveness day was celebrated in Kolkatta. The celebration was to create awareness for Ahimsa as a quality of living, decreasing those occasions, one might have reason to ask for forgiveness or to grant it. The speakers reminded the value of friendship for human life.

Leaders from divers religions showed with their presence, how friendship and respect can prevail among divers religions. Sadhvishree Kanchanprabhaji (third right), Swami Guruanandji of Tirupati (fourth left), Christian Reverend Raju (third left), Immam of Tipu, Sultan Masjid, and a Buddhist monk were present at the gathering.

The participants valued the power of forgiveness as neccessity to continue friendship and for own development, uniting the two realities, inner and outer, in a benefitting effect. They wanted to create awareness for conduct focussed on Ahimsa in thoughts, words, and actions.

The lay followers also stressed the values of forgiveness and friendship for peaceful communal life.
