The swastika is a very ancient Indian symbol.
It is unfortunate that many people associate it with the Nazis who stole it for their emblem in the 1920s.
The four arms of a swastika symbolically represent the 4 categories of life, in any of which an individual soul may be reincarnated:
- animals and plants
- gods
- hell-creatures
- humans
