PREFACE
Before the age of television and computer, the chief source of entertainment for children used to be the stories told by their grandparents. After dinner, the children would surround any one elderly person to listen to different stories, which not only entertained them but also inculcated moral and spiritual values into their lives. But in this age of science and technology, the art of story telling is becoming scare. The people are now engrossed in the world of television, internet and video games. There is a huge amount of material amusement but very little moral instruction.
Stories, whether historical, mythological or fictional, have the power to attract people of all ages. Difficult concepts can be easily conveyed through stories and their message ingrained in the hearts of the listeners. Many interesting stories interspersed with spiritual knowledge and moral messages are available in the Jain Aagams. I have made a attempt to translate some of these into simple English. Prior to this collection, “Journey into Jainism” has also been published and well received by readers of all ages.
Acharya Shri Mahapragya inspired and encouraged me to translate these stories. It is only by his grace, that this compilation became possible. I am also very grateful to Yuvacharya Mahashraman and Sadhvi Pramukha Kanakprabha for their blessings.
The book named “Journey into Jain Aagam” published by Houston (U.S) is now being edited and re-published by the name, “Truth of Present”.
In the current publication, I have received immense help and support from Khushboo Hirawat, which cannot be overlooked.
I hope this book will guide people of all ages and help them in the betterment of their lives.
