Delusion Of Moha

Indra (the head of Gods) was among his congregates discussing human virtues. Meanwhile, Indra said, “There is a king named Mohajeet in this world. Moha means delusion and jeet means victory. It implies that the person has got victory over delusion.

Not only the king, but his whole family has got victory over this and it is a very well known nation among the people that if any of their family member die. They won’t even shed a tear.”

Having heard this from Indra, one of the Gods from his assembly decided to testify this. Because of his divine power, the God disguised himself into a form of a yogi and hid the only son of the king. After sometime when the maidservant of the king was not able to locate the prince, she went to search for him and was confronted by the yogi. She asked him, “Have you seen our prince going this way?” The yogi made a very sad face and said, “I am sorry to inform you, but the truth is that the prince was killed by a lion,” and he started to weep.

Having seen this, she said to the yogi, “Maharaj, why are you so much disturbed and morose over the death of the prince? It is the ultimate truth of life. Anybody who has become in this world will someday have to go. Nobody can live here forever. So, it is useless to weep over death. And it is particularly not good for you as you have left this world and whatever is happening here, should you bother you.

Hearing this, the God thought, “This is just a maidservant of the king. Why should she feel attached to the king? Therefore, I must go to the king and tell him about this. Then I will be able to know directly about the king’s victory.” Thinking this and coming to a conclusion, he went to the palace in the disguise of a yogi. Unhappily, he told the king, the story about the prince’s death by a lion and waited for his response. But, without getting emotional, the king said peacefully, “Yogiraj! This is the fact of life and you must know about all these things since you are a sage. Nobody can avoid or delay it. It will happen when it is scheduled to happen. So why one should feel sad and disappointed and waste time over such things?”

Not satisfied with the king’s response, the yogi went straight to the Queen’s palace and started weeping loudly in the front of her. He narrated the whole story to about her son’s death and waited for her to react. The queen heard it very quietly and without getting moved by it, she said, “Maharajji, the things which belong to me are mine and cannot be snatched away from me by anyone. While those things are not mine or over which I do not have any right or are not possessed by me, cannot remain with me no matter how hard I try. So, why should I waste time over the things which are not mine? Nothing in this world is permanent forever. In spite of the fact that I am a mother, I am not feeling sorry, so why you feeling so distressed?

The God was very surprised to see the detachment power of family members. At last, he thought that he must go to the wife of the prince. He explained the story in a heart rendering way to the prince’s wife, while doing this, the yogi attempted to faint and fell down on the floor. Seeing this, the prince’s wife addressed the yogi, “Oh yogiji! You must have left your house, but it seems that you have not left attachment. It is surprising that these small things still affect you have no left attachment. It is surprising that these small things still affect you in this way. You must not worry about my husband’s death, as he is alive inside me forever.”

The God was perplexed as well as astonished after testing the king and his family. He left the disguised from of the yogi and came back to his original self and said to the king, “Whatever Indra told me about you and your family was hundred percent true as you all have conquered delusion.”
