There is a limit to the development of the soul. From the infinite aspects of the consciousness some of them find expression here. All the remainings are hidden behind the curtain. The second limitation is that from the infinite sources of strength, few find expression here. The third is that the bliss it seeks is hiding. It searches for bliss in objects, in words and in the surroundings while inside there is a reservoir of bliss. His attention does not go towards that. Is eating bliss? If you bandage an ulcer, is that bliss? It is just an act of assuaging the pain. If acidity or ulcers cause pain in the stomach, we eat something and it is assuaged. We think we have got great happiness. Is this happiness or relief? We get great pleasure when we scratch ourselves. Is this bliss? Our limits are thus set. We search for bliss where there is none. We try to seek bliss from where it cannot accrue. The soul has three limiting factors:
- Knowledge that is concealed
- Loss of strength
- Eluding bliss
As we progress towards the supreme soul, the above limitations begin to crumble. Concealment of knowledge begins to fall off and the sun hidden by clouds thus far begins to express itself. One day it shines fully and completely. This is the state of realizing the supreme soul.
As we progress towards the supreme soul the obstruction to strength disappears. The obstructions occur in undulated terrain. On plain ground there is no obstruction. As we reach the pivotal point ot equanimity, all the sources of energy or strength open and flow freely. This is the state of realizing the supreme soul.
As we progress towards the supreme soul, the ocean of bliss comes alive. As soon as passions and desires are assuaged, the eluding winds get appeased. The waves from the ocean of bliss fall at the feet of the soul. This is the state of realizing the supreme soul.
The disciple asked, "Sir! How can I become the supreme soul?" The teacher (guru) replied, "If you want to become the supreme soul, then meditate upon it. Keep watching it. Those who do not meditate upon the supreme soul can never be one with it. Only he can become a supreme soul who perceives the supreme soul, reflects upon it, imbibes it and becomes one with it.” The oneness with the supreme soul helps the seed of the supreme soul in the soul sprout. As the sapling grows, it grows into the supreme soul.
