Blind Aping

१. बाप तलाई जाण ने, खावे गार गिंवार I
    An obdurate person eats wet soil on the plea that it belongs to his father's pond.

Compassion

२. गाय भैंस आक थोर नों, ए च्यारुंई दूध I
    तिम अनुकम्पा जांणजों, राखे मन में सूध II
The yield of a cow, a buffalo, the plant swallow-wort (Aak) and of the plant Euphobla neriifolia (Thohar) is called 'milk'. Likewise both unrighteous and righteous compassion is called 'compassion'. But this difference should be understood sagaciously.

३. उणने छोटा ने छांदे चलावण तणी, ते पिण अकल नहीं घट मांय I
    बड़ा रे पिण छांदे चाल सकें नहीं, तिण अविनीत रा दुख मांहे दिन जाय II
That pert person lives miserably, who lacks the art of disciplining the subordinates and who is incapable of being disciplined by his superiors.

४. गर्भवती ने कहें डाकोतरो, थारें होसी पुत्र अनूप I
    पाडोसण ने कहें होसी डीकरी, ते पिण अतंत करुप II
A Dakaut (member of a Hindu sub-caste who subsists on alms and claims skill in fortune-telling) tells a pregnant woman that she will give birth to a bright son, but tells her neighbour that she will give birth to a daughter and that too extremely ugly.

५. गुरभगता श्रावक श्रावका कनें, गुर रा गुण बोलें ताम I
   आपो वश हुवो जांणे तिण कनें, ओगुण बोलें तिण ठांम II
A pert person lauds the guru before the latter's devotees, but within his own circle loudly proclaims the faults of the guru.

६. गलियार गधो घोड़ो अविनीत ते, कुट्यां बिन आगो न चाले I
    ज्यूं अविनीत नें काम भलावियां, कह्या नीठ-नीठ पार घाले II
A rogue donkey or horse does not move forward without being whipped.
A pert person even when urged to finish a task assigned to him, does so with the greatest difficulty.

७ .गलियार गधो घोड़ो मोल ले, खाडे़ती घणो दुख पावे I 
     ज्यूं अविनीत ने दिख्या दीयां पछे पग -पग गुर पिछतावे II
The rider courts unhappiness by buying a rogue donkey or horse. Likewise a guru (master) repents constantly having initiated a pervert person.

८. ज्यूं अविनीत ने  अविनीत मिल्यां, अविनीतपणो सिखावे I
   पछे बुटकनां, नें बलद ज्यूं, दोनूं जणा दुख पावे II
A pert person misguides his own kind. Later, both undergo suffering like a bullock and a donkey whose ears have been
 partially cut down.1

९. सोर ठंडो लागे मुख मे घालियां, अग्नि मांहे घाल्यां हुवें तातो I
    ज्यूं अ अविनीत ने सोर री ओपमां, सोर ज्यूं अलगो पडे़ जातो II
Saltpetre gives a cooling sensation if put into the mouth. It heats up if put into the fire and gets separated. A pert person has been likened to saltpetre. He gets isolated like it.

१०. आहार पाणी वस्त्रादिक आपियां, तो उ श्वान ज्यूं पूंछ हलावे I
     करडो कह्यां उठे सोर अग्नि ज्यूं, गण छोड़ी एकल उठ जावे II
The pert person behaves obsequiously (like a dog wagging its tail) as long as he gets material benefits. But on being admonished he separates from the Order even as saltpetre gets separated from the fire.

११. कांदा ने सो बार पाणी सूं धोवियां, तो ही न मिटें तिण री वास I
     ज्यूं अविनीतं ने गुर  उपदेश दीये घणो, पिण मूल न लागे पास II
An onion does not lose its smell even if washed in waiter a hundred times similarly however much the guru may instruct a pervert person, he does not change his habits.

१२. कांदा री तो वास धोया मधुरी पडे़, निरफल छें अविनीत ने उपदेश I
On being washed, an onion becomes less smelly, but a pert person does not in the least respond to sound instruction.

१३. उझिया भोगवती ने घर सूंपियां, ते करें खजानो खुराब I
     ज्यूं अविनीत नें गण सूपियां, तो जाए टोलां री आब II
If one who is careless or one who is pleasure-seeking   is   made care-taker of a family, they squander ail the resources of the family. Likewise, if a pert person is put in charge of a religious order, he brings it into disrepute.2

१४. समझ पड्यां विण सरधा परुपें, पीपल बांधी मूर्ख ज्यूं ताणें II
One who propounds a theory without understanding it is like a foot who wants to carry a huge peepul or a bo-tree home by tying a rope around it
