१६. खाए पीए सुखे दीहां सूय रहें, वले डील में वण रह्या लूठा I
गोचरी वीहार करे जरें, जांणे रावला कोतल छूटा II
A sadhu who enjoys a long sleep after a hearty meal, gains in weight and being attached to hearty meals behaves like the arrogant horse of a chieftain, while going for alms or walking from one station to another.2

१७. जीव जीवें ते दया नहीं, मरे ते हो हिंसा मत जाण I
मारण वाला ने हिंसा कही, नहीं मारे हो ते तो दया गुण खांण II
The surviving of a Jiva (living being) is not non-violence neither his dying is violence. The killer is called violent and non-killing is non-violence.
१८. दया दया सहको कहें, ते दया धर्म छें ठीक I
दया ओलख ने पालसी, त्यांने मुगत नजीक II
Everyone keeps swearing by pity. Pitiful conduct is good. He alone will qualify for liberation who will practise pity after fully understanding it.
१९. छकाय मारण रो त्याग, कोइ पचखें आण वेराग I
अभयदान कह्यो जिणराय, धर्मदान मे मिलियो आय II
Charity grounded. Fearlessness means giving, up and repudiating the killing of six types of beings out of a feeling of detachment. It is a part of Dharma-dan (charity grounded pure religion).
२०. रांकां ने मार धींगा नें पोख्यां, ए तो बात दीसें घणी गेंरी I
तिण मांहे दुष्टी धर्म बतावें, ते रांक जीवां रा उठ्या वेरी II
Sustaining bigger beings by killing smaller ones is meaningless. Those who call it religion are enemies of weaker beings.
२१. लोही खरड्यो जो पितंबर, लोही सूं केम धोवायो I
तिम हिंसा मे धर्म कीयां थी, जीव उजलो किम थायो II
How can a blood-smeared cloth be washed by blood? How can spiritual refinement be attained by treating violence as religion?

२२. कूआ तणो डेडक कूए रंजे, तिण सायर लहर न दीठ I
ज्यूं साधां री संगत करी नहीं, त्यांने लागे पाषंड मत मीठ II
The frog inside the well feels happy only in the well, because he has never experienced the waves of the ocean. Those who have not come in contact With Sadhus (religious mendicants) enjoy even a hypocritical opinion.
२३. जाजम विछई कूवा ऊपरें, चिंहूं कानी मेल्यो उपर भार I
भोला वेंसे तिण उपरें, ते डूब मरें रे तिण कूवा मझार II
The well has been hidden by a floor-covering of coarse thick cotton with all its four corners put under heavy weights. The innocent person sits upon it, falls into the well and gets drowned.
२४. तिम कुगुर छें कुवा सारिषा, जाजम सम रे कनें साध रो भेष I
त्यानें गुर लेखव बंदणा करें, ते डूबें रे मूरख अंध अदेख II
A bad guru is like the above well and his hermit-like appearance is the covering. Anyone who worships a hypocrite believing him to be a guru falls down spiritually and is drowned in ignorance.
२५. कोई कहें मांहरी मा तो छे बांझड़ी, तिण रो हूं छूं आतमजात I
ज्यूं मूर्ख कहें जिण आहनां विना, करणी कीधां धर्म साख्यात II
A man says, "My mother is sterile and I am her son. “Similarly an ignorant man says, "Even if an action is not permitted by VITRAG or ARHATS, it is 'dharnia’.
२६. जिम कोई घ्रत तंबाखू विणजे, पिण वासण विगत न पाडे I
घ्रत लेई तंबाखू में घाले, ते दोनूंई वसत विगाडे II
If a man who trades both in clarified butter and tobacco does not keep two separate containers for them and pours clarified butter into the tobacco container, he spoils both the commodities.
२७. ज्यूं अधर्म रा कामा धर्म मांहे घाल्या, धर्म रा कामा अधर्म में घाल्या I
दोनूंई विध कर्म बांधे अग्यांनी, दुरगत मांहे चाल्या II
Similarly, ignorant people who do not discriminate between pious and impious deeds lose at both ends and meet a pathetic end.

२८. जीव विमासी जोय तूं, विषय म राच गिवार I
थोडा सुखां रे कारणे, मूरख घणा म हार II
O living being! Just think and know. O fools I Do not cultivate attachment to worldly pleasures. Do not lose innumerable joys for the sake of a few pleasures.

२९. अति आहार थी विषें वधें, घणोंइज फाटें पेट I
धांन अमाउ उरतां, हांडी फाटें नेट II
Overeating increases desire for sexual pleasures and the stomach gets distended. If one cooks more in an earthen vessel than its capacity the vessel gives way.

३०. ग्यान रुप साबण सुध चोखें, तप रुपी निरमल नीर I
धोबी ज्यूं छे अंतर आतमा, ते धोवे छें निज गुण चीर II
The cloth of one's being is washed sparklingly white, when knowledge acts as soap, devout austerity as clean water and the inner spirit as the washer man.

३१. आपरा किरतब आपने सूझें, मन छांनी चोरी नहीं कांइ I
One knows what one does. There is nothing like self-deception.

३२. जे अणाचारी थका आचार बतावें, ते यूंही अन्हाखी कूके I
जांणे गायां तणां टोलारे मांहिं निकेवल गधा ज्यूं भूके II
It is nonsensical for a person of bad conduct to preach good conduct. It is like the braying of an ass amidst a herd of cows.
