On 16 th May 2009 Sadhvi Kanak Shri with her group of nuns reached Terapanth Sabha Bhawan, South Howrah. In the morning, the procession started from North Howrah Terapanth Trust Bhawan with Terapanth flag in the front followed by the members of Terapanth Mahila Mandal along other women lay followers, students of the Gyanshala of North and South Howrah. In the centre of the procession were Sadhvi Kanak Shri and her group followed by the lay followers from North Howrah, south Howrah and all over Kolkata. After reaching at South Howrah Sabha Bhawan, the procession converted into a gathering of the lay followers.
Sri Janwarilal Nahata, President of South Howrah Sabha welcomed Sadhvi Kanakshri ji in his area. On the occasion Smt Pushpa Kundalia and Smt. Santosh Banthia also expressed their happiness.
Sadhvi Kanak Shri ji said - To welcome saints is to welcome continence and austerity. Saints are symbols of integrity, and the state of self-mortification.. They are pious like flowing water and preach the masses to keep the mirror of their mind also clean. She further said,-“ Acharya Mahapragyaji is a great scientific saint. His message to the common person is that the life should be made a laboratory of religion and spirituality to understand the mysteries of life and awaken the power lying with oneself. By following his teachings and the avenues like - Preksha Meditation, Science of Living, Anuvratas one can illuminate one’s own personality by all dimensions”.
Sadhvi Madhulata ji invited the lay followers to follow self-management and time management and actively participate in all the programmes to be held during the 6 days stay of Sadhvi shri ji at South Howrah.
Sri Rakesh Choraria sang a sweet welcome song. The Welcome programme was compered by Sri Malchand Bhansali, Vice President of the South Howrah Terapanth Sabha.
During 6 days Sadhvi Kanakshri ji Sadhvi Veena Kumari ji, Sadhvi Madhulata ji, Sadhvi Madhulekha ji and Sadhvi Shantiprabha ji inspired all categories of lay followers, be it children from Gyanshalas, girls from Kanya Mandal, boys from Kishor Mandal, youths of Terapanth Yuvak Parishad, Young housewives, elderly women, would be mother-in-laws. All were given lessons to live peacefully and co-exist without any hitch in family and community life.

On 17 May, Sunday Sadhvi Kanak Shri addressing a huge gathering discussed benefits of svadhyaya. She said -“svadhyaya mean reading and teaching religious and spiritual books and literature. It enhances the thinking power, evils are eliminated and a layer of positive attitude is formed all around. She further said addressing a large gathering of the lay followers from greater Kolkata -“Svadhyaya is the best kind of penance. It is the best and scientific route to know, understand and change oneself.. One who involves himself in svadhyaya remains free from tension and worries. He is not harassed by resolutions and alternates. His Tatwik Knowledge becomes clear, decisive and doubtless. The greatest advantage of Svadhyaya is that with its continuation, base and background is created for going ahead in meditation.” Sadhvi Sri Ji discussed the various kinds of svadhyaya - Vacna, prichhna, parivartna anupreksha and Dharamkatha and their special subsistence.
In the ‘Sanskar Nirman Shivir (values building camp) of Children - a work shop in which over 100 senior children from 7 gyanshalas and 25 gyanshala trainers of south Howrah participated. Addressing the participants, Sadhvi Kanakshri ji said - “Children are the mirror of the society and the Nation. By looking at the lifestyle and behaviour of the child, one can ascertain the quality of the cultural values in the society. Children form the base for a healthy society. So the parents should never neglect them. They should be regularly sent to the gyanshala’s so as to have their all round personality development.” Sadhvi Madhulata ji said- “cultural values are the asset of a family and the society. For protecting and making further addition to this asset, organizing shivirs (camps)of this type are very useful.”. Sadhvi Sri ji taught the children with various experiments- the process of right and long and deep breathing, the ways to increase concentration and memory, and also how to control anger. The participants were trained by various trainers - Malchand Bhansali (convener of gyanshala), Sri Sushil Bafana (Amrit Sansad and HereNow4U Correspondent) in various ways. Gyanshala trainers imparted the knowledge of tattva and Jain basics and religion.
Sri Mirjamal Bhadani, the sponsor of the programme and the women from local Mahila Mandal actively participated in all the arrangements in making the shivir a success.A short “ Upasak training workshop “ of the Upasak from south Howrah was organised in the pious presence of Sadhvi kanakshri ji. The meet ended with great enthusiasm and renewed possibilities. Addressing the Upasak and other interested participants, Sadhvi sri ji said –“ Upasak are very useful. They can, largely, compliment the work of saints and nuns. Upasak are sadhaks so they can touch the soul of the people through their teachings. It is essential for the Upasak to have depth of knowledge and effectiveness of behaviour. To achieve the same, they should be regular in svadhyaya, experiment the habit of detachment from the world, sadhana of continence“. Inspired by the meet, about 15 lay followers came forward and registered themselves for the training of Upasak. The programme was compered by Sri Mahaveer Pratap Dugar. He gave information about eligibility, work and criterion of the Upasak class in detail.

A Chit Samadhi Shivir (intuition contemplation camp) for women was organized on 18 May by Terapanth Mahila Mandal, South Howrah in which 180 women participated. Sadhvi Madhulata ji was the chief mentor of the camp in which participants were trained the art of living peaceful and happy life. Addressing the participants, Sadhvi Kanaksri ji said - “ contemplation (Samadhi) is the beginning as well as end of the practice to accomplish spiritual values. However, for entering the field of religion, Samadhi is essential. Samadhi means equanimity. Due to human weakness, people get affected by the external factors and loose balance. Explaining the usefulness of long and deep breathing preksha for getting mental peace and relief from tension, Sadhvi sri ji further said - “ belief in Nirgranth discourse, detachment from sexual instinct, complacence, and staying unaffected in unpleasant and pleasant circumstances - these are the vital elements of highest grade of intuition resulting in contemplation of the rightness.” The members of Mahila Mandal sang the “Chitt Samadhi Song”. Smt Lalita Dugar convened the programme. Vote of thanks was offered by Smt. Pushpa Dhariwal.

A workshop for Girls of local Kanya Mandal was held on 21st may. During evening several interesting programmes like -antakshari, story competition and debate competitions etc were organized.
The morning session was regularly attended by many devotees from 5.30 to 6.00 a.m. that included anuvrat song. bhaktamar stotra and chanting of Namaskar mantra and name of teerthankars.followed by detailed Mangal path.
Sadhvi shree regularly gave discourse between 9 am to 10 am on different spiritual topics. Laypersons were happy as they were getting new spiritual energy by her.
Sadhvi Kanakshri left for mahasabha bhavan on 22nd may with a big rally.
