This year IoJ has responded to a wider net of requests  to provide services during Paryushan Parva. The international  visit this year will be to Kenya. Dr Harshad Sanghrajka, the Deputy Chair of the Institute will be travelling to Kenya and visiting both Nairobi & Mombasa. The Parva will be celebrated in Nairobi with the IOJ Intermediate Course being delivered in early morning sessions: Jiva Vichar ~ Contemplating the SOUL.

The mid-morning sessions will be utilised for Kalpa Sutra: Mahavir Katha. After the Pratikraman, a series on the theme of Sukh Naa Sadhan will be presented. Afternoons of the weekend are reserved for the younger generation to discuss various aspects of Jainism.

Here is an excerpt from the Shree Sthanakvasi Jain Sangh, Nairobi, newsletter: “……… this year’s Paryushan festivities will commence from Saturday 23rd August 2014 to Saturday 30th August 2014 at the Prayer Hall in Navnat Bhavan, General Mathenge Drive, Nairobi. This year we are blessed with the presence of Dr. Harshadbhai Sanghrajka, Deputy Chair of Institute of Jainology (IOJ) from London, UK. You are invited to this most auspicious Jain religious period of forgiveness.”

Eight sessions in Mombasa will be divided equally between the discussion of Punya Prakash Nu Stavan in Gujarati and various topics in English.

In the UK, the IoJ Education Team has arranged for five members to go to Northampton on 23rd & 24th August(until lunch time) and then go on to Leicester for the afternoon of 24th and full day on 25th August.  The team consists of Sarvashree: Prakash Patalia, Jyotsna Samji,  Jyotsna Shah, Shruti Malde and Vibhuti Mehta.  The team will be hosted by OAUK Leicester Area.

Dr Mehool Sanghrajka will be having a busy Paryushan with following programs already arranged:

Oshwal Centre [OAUK NE Area] :

Lecture  on Saturday 23rd August, at 18:00.  Subject: ‘Understanding Pratikraman and Paryushan Parva’.

Navnat Centre (Hayes):

Friday 22nd and Sunday 24th in the evening (approx. 8pm) after Pratikramana:  Subject: Paryushana and Forgiveness 

Young Jains at Jain Centre Colindale -

                   Saturday 23rd August 10.30-12.30, Subject: ABC of Paryushan

                   Monday 25th August 10-30 - 12.30,   Subject:  Free your mind through forgiveness

Additionally, in preparation for the Paryushan Parva, the Education Team has organised a workshop on Sunday, 17th August, at the OAUK Mahajanwadi, South London, from 11:00 to 16:00 with a short lunch break. The workshop will teach several popular texts with meaning, stavans, use of upakarans, and Q and A session.  English Pratikraman will be recited on Friday, 22nd and Monday 25th August in the evening.
