On 28 April 2009, to celebrate one of the great Jain festivals Akshay Tritiya, Samanijis were invited by Jyotsna and Ashvin Shah, to their house. On the occasion of Mrs. Jyotsnaben’s Parana (breaking of one-year fasting), a spiritual programme was organised under the auspicious presence of Samanijs. The Programme was started with the recitation of Navkar Mantra and followed by recitation of the ‘Bhaktamar stotra’. Samanijis led ‘Jap’ (Chanting of the Mantra) of Bhagavan Rishabh and presented some devotional songs.

Samani Rohit Pragya expressed her views on ‘Importance of Internal Penance’.She said that external penance can only be fruitful, if it is done with internal penance. Explaining all the twelve types of penance, she emphasised to practice internal penance like repentance, humbleness, scriptural study, meditation etc.   Harshdbhai Sanghrajka and Prakashbhai Shah shared their own experience and expressed their best wishes to Jyotsnaben for doing a one-year penance.

Samani Prasanna Pragya spoke about the inspirational instances of the life of Bhagavan Rishabh as well as his family. She said that one can find the best example of internal penance in Bhagvan Rishabh’s family. Explaining the internal penance of Bhagvan Rishabh’s family, she shared some incidents of his sons Bharat & Bahubali, his mother Marudeva and daughter Sundari. Samanijis appreciated the resolution of Jyotsnaben to do penance of one year ekashan (one meal a day) and also inspired her to continue an external as well as internal penance.  Jyotsnaben and Ashvinbhai shah paid their warm gratitude towards Samanijis for accepting their request of celebrating a pious event at their house.
