2012 Karuna's Mewar Tour
Muni Kishan Lal was looking forward to his knee operation. It was scheduled to take place at Ahmedabad, Gujarat. I asked myself how Munishree could get there. He smilingly answered that he will go by car. Sure, that is the easiest way to go from Amet to Ahmedabad. But a Jain Muni going by car? No problem, he had got the permission for temporarily leave because of the operation. He was not the first Terapanth monk who underwent such a procedure.
At 16:00h sharp I went to Muni Kishan Lal ji’s room. There was an atmosphere familiar to everyone who once had prepared for a trip. An atmosphere of departure and packing. Muni Neeraj Kumar and Muni Madhan Kumar of Muni Kishan Lal ji’s group obviously had the responsibility to pack all necessary objects, books, papers, clothes, and blankets. The bundle of clothes was the smallest. Books and papers took the most amount of space. The two Munis showed an admirable routine in their cooperation. Like swans they moved concentrated and target-oriented in the room, filled with people. They put the things they had already packed in a corner out of reach. After ten minutes - hat off! - they’d done it. Very good timing, because meanwhile the room seemed to brim over with monks who had come to show their respect to Muni Kishan Lal and to give some very auspicious Mantras to him for good health. No need to understand the language, the course of action was clear.
I was very impressed by the way, how much caring and compassionate the monks interacted. It was a short, deeply cordial farewell, without dispensable words or gestures. Then Muni Kishan Lal got up and went to the neighbouring hall where HH Acharya Mahashraman had given lecture to Samani jis. He immediately sprang up from his seat when he saw Muni Kishan Lal, and bowed down to him! Muni Kishan Lal was overwhelmed and immediately bowed down himself. I suppose this was a very painful action for someone with a knee operation ahead. HH Acharya Mahashraman and Muni Kishan Lal got up, and the Acharya blessed his disciple. A very, very touching scene. Such smoothness together with unattachedness only saints can display from inside in their purity.
Then Muni Kishan Lal went to the vehicle outside. Some monks accompanied him and helped him to sit down. The vehicle was pushed by two monks, the others stayed behind. After three blocks the destination was reached. The trip to Ahmedabad was scheduled early next morning. Many lay followers escorted him while calling a good result for the operation.
In the evening I went again to Muni Kishan Lal for meditation. Two young girls also were present. One of them had very bright eyes and smiled shyly when Munishree suggested to her to become a nun. She kindly had translated the dialogue for me. I had asked her to do so, because there was something in her attitude that catched my attention. Who knows what will happen in future?
