Philosophy In Jain Agams: Āgama Vācanā (Synods)

The preaching of Lord Mahavira were compiled by gaṇadharas in the form of āgamas but due to natural calamities that occurred in the past, these pious śruta treasure was not be well secured. Thus, the contents got scattered. To rearrange them in a systematic order Jain Acharyas organised the synods. This systematization of āgamas is called as vācanā (synods). Within about thousand years of the salvation (nirvāa) of Lord Mahavira, there had been five prominent synods organised under the guidance of scholastic Acharyas.
