Philosophy In Jain Agams: How Many Karmas are Bound at a Time?

Published: 11.06.2019
Updated: 11.06.2019

The Jain karma theory accepts eight types of karmas, like knowledge obscuring karma etc. Out of the eight karmas, how many karmas can be bound at a time, has also been discussed. The Bhagavatī states, that, the soul may bind seven, eight, six and one type of karma at a time.[1] The soul which has already bound life span determining karma, binds seven karmas at a time and life-span determining karma is bound only once in a life- time and at that time, the soul binds eight karmas at a time.
