Trikonasan (Triangle pose)

Position:

Stand straight, keeping the feet apart. Keep the right foot straight and left foot at 90 degrees to the right foot.

Process:

Place the hands on the side of the body. Place the left hand near the left foot-pad. While inhaling, raise your right hand over the head until it is parallel to the floor. Touch the ear with the right shoulder. While exhaling, bend the hand and trunk at the waist to the left side. The head should turn sideways while looking straight forward. Retain the breath ten seconds in this pose. Inhaling, come to the original position. Repeat in the same fashion for the other side of the body.



Process: (second type):

While inhaling, raise both hands. While exhaling, bend the trunk to the front. Place the right hand to the left foot, and now twist to the left. Keep the left arm upwards, looking up. Reverse the process for the other side.

Process: (third type):

Place clasped hands behind back. While exhaling, bend forward and lowering the left leg, touch forehead to the left big toe. Maintain this posture 10 seconds. While inhaling, come to the original position. Repeat for the other side.

Time:

One minute up to three minutes.

Benefits:

It trims the waist, lungs and spine, reduces obesity of hips and waist, strengthens muscles of the legs, removes constipation, gases, dyspepsia, and weakness of the intestine.
