(Jo maṇṇadi hiṃsāmi) He, who believes/thinks that he can kill [others] (ya parehi sattehiṃ hiṃsijjāmi) or can be killed by others, (so mūḍho aṇṇāṇῑ) is deluded and his vision is perverted (du etto vivarido ṇāṇῑ) while he, who holds diametrically opposite belief/views is with right knowledge.

(Jῑvāṇaṃ maraṇaṃ āukkhayeṇa jiṇavarehi paṇṇataṃ) The Jinendra Deva [omniscient one] has proclaimed that end of [pre-determined] life-span is the cause of death of living organisms (ca tumaṃ āyuṃ ṇa harasi) and you are not able to take away la portion] of anybody's life-span; (te tesiṃ maraṇaṃ kiha kadaṃ), then how could you be regarded to have caused its death?

(Jῑvāṇaṃ maraṇaṃ āukkhayeṇa jiṇavarehi paṇṇataṃ) The Jinendra Deva has proclaimed that the end of life-span is the cause of death of living organisms (tumaṃ āyuṃ ṇa haraṃti) and no other living being can take away [a portion of] your life-span, (tehiṃ maraṇaṃ kiha kadaṃ); then how could they kill you [take your life]?'

(Jo maṇṇadi jῑvemi ya) He, who believes/thinks that he can save others from death (ya parehi sattehiṃ jivissāmi) or that others can save me from death (so mūḍho aṇṇāṇῑ) is deluded and his vision is perverted, (du etto vivarido ṇāṇῑ) while he who holds diametrically opposite belief/view is with right knowledge.

(Jῑvo āu-udayeṇa jῑvadi evaṃ savvaṇhu bhaṇaṃti) Omniscients have declared that a living organism continues to live on account of the rise of its [own] life-span; (tumaṃ āuṃ ca ṇa desi) you are unable to give a [portion of] life-span to others; (te tesiṃ kahaṃ jῑvidaṃ kadaṃ) then how can you be regarded to have saved anybody's life?

(Jῑvo āu-udayeṇa jῑvadi evaṃ savvaṇhu bhaṇaṃti) Omniscients have declered that a living organism lives on account of the rise of its [own] life-span, (tumaṃ āuṃ ṇa deṃti) nobody is able to give life-span to you; (tehiṃ te jῑvidaṃ kahaṃ ṇu kadaṃ) then how can anybody be regarded as having saved your life?
