As far as the third view (which is accepted by Gassendi and others) is concerned, there is much similarity between it and the Jain view. This philosophical view was the basis of Newtonian scientific concept of space. So, it would be more appropriate to examine it critically in our discussion on the scientists’ view in the next section.
