Acharya Shree Tulsi - A Legend Of Humanity: Jain Vishva Bharati: Academy of Oriental Learning

The Jain Vishva Bharati, located at Ladnun, was established in 1970, under the pious guidance of Acharya Tulsi. It is one of the best achievements during the tenure of Acharya Tulsi. JVB is a central and vital institute of Terapanth for spiritual guidance, teaching Jain philosophy and ethics. The aim of this institution is to carry out various activities related to non-violence and peace. The activities of this institute are basically divided in seven categories as:

Education (Shiksha)

  • The beautiful campus of JVB advocates three educational offices:
  • School (Vimal Vidya Vihar, an English medium school)
  • College (Acharya Kalu Kanya Mahavidyalaya, for girls)
  • Jain Vishwa Bharati University.
  1. Research Department
    Anekant Shodhapith is a research center dedicated to work for research projects regarding Jainology, Agam, Jain encyclopedia etc.

  2. Tulsi Adhyatm Needam (Preksha Meditation Center)
    With the inspiration of Acharya Tulsi this place was originated as a hub of Preksha meditation conducting yoga and meditation classes and camps to develop personality and spirituality.

  3. The Sevabhavi Kalyan Kendra
    It is a research center cum pharmacy of Ayurveda, which produces hundred types of ayurvedic medicines and the patients get the best possible treatment for free of cost.

  4. Shraman Sanskriti Sankay
    This bureau is actively conducting and managing the course of Jain studies throughout India. Every year around 7000 students join this course through correspondence.
  5. Jain International
    This unit undertakes and organizes the International programs and makes the arrangements of samans and samanis for overseas travelling. One of the reasons of emergence of Saman Shreni was to spread the message of non-violence, Jainism, Preksha dhyan and human values around the globe. This group has visited a number of countries and five continents till date.
  6. Publications
    Sound education is possible through healthy literature. Jain Vishva Bharati is dynamically engaged in publication of Jain Agamas, and other philosophical and the literature of common interest. More than 400 books have been published during last thirty years.

Jain Vishva Bharati University (JVBU)

Acharya Tulsi with Acharya Mahapragya had a vision of a unique University dedicated to Jainism, Non-violence and moral values. Motivated by this visualization of  Acharya Tulsi, a seer, saint and scholar, Jain Vishva Bharati University was established as deemed University by UGC and central government in 1991. It is world's first Jain University for the advanced studies of Jainism, Indology, Sanskrit, Prakrit, Science of Living, Preksha Meditation & Yoga, Non-violence and Peace. Nanassa sar-mayaro (Right conduct is the essence of knowledge) is the motto of this university.

This University imparts education to Saman Shreni and Mumukshu together with the common people. The departments for PG level and Ph.D. are:

  1. Jainology and Comparative Religion and Philosophy (M.A., M.Phil.)
  2. Prakrit and Jain Agam (M.A., M.Phil.)
  3. Science  of  Living,  Preksha  Meditation  and Yoga (M.A./M.Sc.)
  4. Non-violence and Peace (M.A.)
  5. Social Work (M.A.)
  6. English Literature (M.A.)
  7. Education (M.Ed.)

Along with it University offers several diploma and Certificate courses at national and international level. One can study as a regular student or through correspondence. Value based education and character-building has been the primary focus of this university since last 22 years.

At present under the guidance of Anushasta Acharya Mahashraman and dedicated faculty this university is moving forward with its purpose and fulfilling the dreams of Acharya Tulsi and Acharya Mahapragya.
