Glory Of Non-Possession
There are always two paths. One is of entanglement. Our desires for worldly pleasures are important to us and we always think of satisfying our material needs.
On the other hand the other way to go is sacrificing our worldly desires. Not always thinking or trying to possess material things.
For self-enlightenment and enlistment we shouldn't indulge ourselves. We should give up all material comfort. It should not be the prime object of our life. A person, who does not give up, cannot be a spiritually enlightened. Non-attachment and Non-accumulation is important.
Once Bhikshu swami was visiting the city of Pur near Bhilawara in India. He broke his journey by lying under a tree and relaxing. Hearing about Bhikshu's fame a person came to see him. He asked the monk his name.
Bhikshu Swami told him his name.
The person who had arrived was surprised to see Bhikshu by himself. He told Bhikshu Swami that he had heard a lot of praises about him. He thought that Bhikshu would have a procession like kings. Non-accompaniment of people and elephants or horses had really surprised this man. He wanted to know why Bhikshu travelled by himself, and not in a kinglike style.
Bhikshu swami had to satisfy the curiosity of this person. He informed him he strictly believed and practiced philosophy of non-accumulation. The reason he was well renowned was because he didn't possess anything material-wise, just self realized mind and soul.
It is rightly said - everyone should try and practice non-accumulation of goods, and non-possession of goods and gradually you will experience that you rule the three worlds. This is the secret towards becoming a supreme being. Only self realized Yogis know this secret.
