In this posture (Kayotsarg), the body has to be completely relaxed, as if lifeless, while mind is in state of consciousness. All movement and any unsteadiness of body has to be abandoned. Concentration is directed to every organ of body. This asana can be performed in three positions but to begin with, Kayotsarg should be practiced in a lying position.

Method
To begin with, lie down on back. Keep both hands away from the body at an equal distance. Keep palms open and facing upward. Maintain a distance of about one foot between legs. Loosen body to relax it completely. Take your attention to toe of right foot and then travel upwards touching upon every organ of body till head.
- Relax your body.
- Calm mind.
- Feel that consciousness is present.
- Body is completely still but conscious.
- Breathe normally.
Duration
The duration of this asana should be from one minute to five minutes. If practitioner is working towards inner growth/self development and attaining a goal in life, the duration of this asana can be increased.
