The Support Of Faith: 05 ►Basis of Human Values

Published: 23.01.2020

Human beings are making progress but humanity is suffering. Attributes are growing but character is losing its strength. Information is pouring in but practical applications are not made. We wish something else, but we get something else. Why? Man’s vision is impaired and the goal is out of sight. Otherwise what may be the reason of his helplessness in face of such growing crisis of humanity?

Animals have no sense of values. There is no way they can be trained how to acquire character. Despite this, they do not harm others. Mass killings, that too, prolonged for years together is unimaginable in animal world. It is time we should think where man is heading. Has man lost his commitment? Has he stopped thinking in a rational way? Whether he has decided to write the history of this century in black letters?

The scriptures that deal with features of human being have a saying:

तिल भंवरी मश ल्हसणीयो, जोत जीमणे अंग
चला जाय पर घीप में, लक्ष्मी तजै न संग

(A man having mole, Bhawari, Mash and Lahsun—spots of different types—on his right side shall enjoy plenty of wealth irrespective of place he lived.)

There is no reason to doubt in this saying, at the same time, we do not have any means to verify the saying.

Based on the knowledge I have gathered and experience acquired, I can tell you that a man possessing the following four virtues can never meet misfortune. Wherever he may go, he would experience peace and happiness for his having these virtues:

  • Purity of heart
  • Control over weapons
  • Free from addiction
  • Faith in unity of humanity

Whoever practices the above virtues does not deceive anyone does not take life of others, does not eat meat consume tobacco and alcohol and does not consider anyone untouchable on caste basis.

If these features were considered as the core of human values, men's journey would be very enjoyable and simple.
