The Support Of Faith: 09 ►Life of the Twenty-first Century

Published: 25.01.2020

How will be the life of the twenty-first century? This is one of the provocative questions before us. An enquiry into the question may open before us some new possibilities mixed with some apprehensions. We find that at one hand expansion of materialistic culture is facilitated and on the other, culture that lay emphasis on purposeful life is damned. This century has to enjoy pleasure of novels of life and bear the pains of idleness.

Scientific invention and discoveries indicate that the houses of the next century would be of unbreakable plastic. Earthquake, cyclone and fire would have no effect on them. An artificial Sun shall shine on them round the clock. Household duties would not be left to housewives or domestic help. Computer aided robots would take over. In small towns and rural areas, cooking on fire wood and kerosene is being disliked. After two decades there shall be no need to go to the kitchen. Ready to eat food would be directly served in the dining rooms.

The next century would have unbreakable plastic made roads cars, helicopters, planes and even houses. Possibilities of space journey, space war, space industry would be a reality of the next century. Students would not be attending classes. With the help of electronic gadgets, they would be able to learn sitting at their homes. Man thinks that once these possibilities would turn into a reality, he will be at the forefront of progress. But, at the same time we have to see that how strong is the foundation of this concept of progress?

We have to think that the compulsions of life, supported by machines, may not throw him completely out of action. In a situation where one would not be required to work for sustaining life, what would he do? These are some concerns that would compel humanity to turn to its original life style. That would be the ideal situation to make advancements with confidence al1d certainty hand in hand and with science and spirituality.
