There are two options before a man, either he can make a mad rush for the fulfillment of his unending desires or he can exercise control over his growing desires. We have seen lives of both types of people—one who did not control their desires and the other who could control them. Based on our observations, we can say that which type of life is of worth. Now, man has to apply his mind and adopt one of the said two ways of life. It is not a matter of teaching and precept. It is a subject of individual selection, selection based on personal experience.
Man has many wishes, big dreams. These wishes and dreams are harmless. But when these wishes and dreams chase material objects then conscience takes back seat. Conversely, it is also true that when our conscience takes back seat his wishes and dreams become wild for material possession. We must not forget the fact that only man who has full control over his wishes and dreams is able to get success whether it is in the material or spiritual world.
If we make a close study of the lives of the accomplished scientists of the world we would find that greater was the scientist harder and more disciplined was his life. People who do not do physical work and keep control over his senses cannot succeed. Only a restrained man can get success. A jawan at the front if does not practice restrain, cannot defend his post. A business person is destined to fail if he does not practice restrain in his life and work. If a player is not restrained, he too would not be able to hit targets. If a student has no restraint, he would not be able to break records.
Restrain in life is a tasted prescription. It is true that restrained life is a successful life. Truth cannot be interpreted in the content of individual, time and situation. One who has faith in this truth shall not let horses of their wishes let lose. Even the ambitious plans of such restrained persons get translated into reality. I firmly believe that restrain is the secret of success; it is the gateway to peace and happiness and solution to many of our problems.
