Man remembers past imagines future and lives in present state. Present state is related with both—past and future. Healthy and good practices of the past emerging in present state. Present becomes the basis of future. Three periods are related with each other in such a way that it is not possible to observe them in segregated form.
It is the nature of man that he is not satisfied with his age. He is absorbed in the glorious songs of the past in such a way that present state slips from his hand. If not slips, of course, it dims. The future, reflected in the haziness of present state, how it can be bright? The atmosphere of disappointment, exposed in present situation, is not so unexpected. In Jain Agams (जैन आगम) a division of time is available. That can be accepted as forecast.
That time will be full of pain and cry. At that time winds will be blowing in such a way that it will be difficult to bear the same. Directions will be fading. Dusty storms will be blowing. The Moon will be much cooler. The Sun will infuse fire. The rain water will be acidic. That life will not be habitable. Many types of diseases will spread. The force of rain will be so intense that populous villages, cities, sub rules etc. will be destroyed, Animals, birds will die. Crops will be perished. Sprout of crops will not come out. Except the Ganges and the Sindh rivers, rest of the rivers and ponds will dry.
At that time the earth will be not like burning charcoal. Somewhere it will be full of dust and somewhere it will be full of mud. Man of that time will be ugly. They will involve themselves in dispute, fraud, killing, animosity and evil-attitudes. They will not be courteous and their conscience will be dormant. Their faces will be frightening. They will be out of motivation in any respect. They will be devoid of potentialities and will become inactive mental attitude of anger, pride, illusion (Maya) and greed will increase too much. Their attachment with the religion will be scary. Their observation will be too narrow. Their age-limit will not be more than sixteen to twenty years. They will have no modesty, no propriety and no pure regulations.
Reading and listening to this description, man is trembled. But for what such trembling? Man’s attitude is shaping in such a way that it is not possible to avoid this mishap. Scientists of today talk about the environmental changes due to atomic war. They talk about the injury to ozone layer. Whether Jain Agams do not contain these happenings?
As per Jain Agams such time will emerge after several thousands of years. But the manner by which nature is perturbed, earth is mutualised and man is losing his humanity, it can be apprehended on this ground that the time which is to emerge after eighteen thousand years, will possibly emerge earlier. If disappointment and inactivity of man become extensive, that terrifying time will knock the door soon. As such we have to obviate the fog of disappointment. We have to arouse to the Sun of bold manliness. Human values are to be established. If so happens, the time complexing the problem or it is becoming the problem, can be pushed back to some extent.
