This is very important finger posture. It gives very positive impact on brain and total nervous system. We can do this Mudra in any position or posture i.e. while in movement, while sleeping or sitting, while watching TV, moving in bus or train or taking rest. Padmasan is the best posture for doing this Mudra at the time of doing Dhyan.

TimeLimit: There is no time limit for doing this Mudra. This can be done for any unlimited time.


Procedure (Method): Procedure: Join top end of Index finger with top end of the Thumb with slight pressure and keep other three fingers simply straight.

Benefits:

  1. This Mudra helps in increasing memory, intellectual power.

  2. It helps to calm your anger and relief from headache.

  3. This Mudra gives strength to total nervous system. It specially helps in removing bad effects from mind which is created due to stress.

  4. With the regular and continuous practice of Gyan Mudra we can get rid of various deficiencies and ailments of the brain i.e. Mental Disorder, Restlessness, Depression, frustration, Uneasiness, Laziness. Fear, Tension. Sadness, Madness, Jealousy, Excitement, etc. Even Gyan mudra a is beneficial in curing Fits if practiced for a long time.

  5. This helps in the growth of the mind and makes it pure. Person becomes calm and his face expresses extreme happiness.

  6. With regular practice of this Mudra we can increase power of knowledge.

  7. This Mudra is very helpful in controlling Anger, Excitement and Mental Stress. When we feel angry, we should immediately practice this Much along withdeep breathing and anger will be vanished within few minutes.

  8. It helps in increasing concentration. When we touch Index Finger with the Thumb, we feel slight vibration in the nerves. If we concentrate on the vibration, we start getting the concentration.

  9. This Mudra is a blessing to the Students. Practice of this increase their memory power and improves their brain. It has been seen many times that in childhood people use to be very intelligent and remember whatever they read even for once. But as they grow, they get into bad habits i.e. cracking fingers, play game of fighting with hand shaking legs while seating on the chair, moving fingers without any reason etc., which effects adversely on the brain and nervous system. Their memory power and concentration start decreasing. Earlier what they could remember by reading once could not remember even after reading many times. Their 10 level goes down and their intelligence, memory and mental capability get reduced. If such children can improve their and bad habits a practice Gyan Mudra regularly they can get back their i intelligence and mental power. Hence this mudra is also known as Saraswati Mudra because it is the best tool to improve power of brain cells.

  10. Mentally retarded children whose mental growth is blocked, can be benefited if they practice this mudra daily. This can improve their intelligence power effectively.

  11. According to Acupressure Therapy Thumb of our hand is the center point of Pituitary and Pineal Glands. Thumb is also the center point of intelligence. When we practice Gyan Mudra, we apply pressure on both these points. This way both these glands get activated and their discharge gets balanced. These glands help in the growth of the body apart from improving brain power. If Pituitary gland doesn't work properly, children can become naughty, angry, liar and thief. By regular practicing of Gyan Mudra for a long period we can improve activity of Pituitary Gland and children can start getting growing mentally. Their nature starts improving and they can get rid of bad habits.

  12. People suffering from Migraine, should practice Gyan Mudra followed by Pran Mudra to get benefited.

  13. This Mudra provides immense benefit to people who are suffering from Insomnia. There are many people in the universe who are not getting proper sleep or getting less sleep. Regular tension, mental stress, depression, fear, etc. can affect person's mental state and their life can get disturbed. Such people can stop getting regular sleep and start depending on the medicines. In such state, Gyan Mudra works like sleeping pill and by practicing it people start getting sound sleep. Even it helps people who get excess sleep by balancing it. For better results we can also practice Pran Mudra after Gyan Mudra.

  14. By regular practice of Gyan Mudra not only helps in developing concentration and intelligence but if it is practiced regularly for longer period, it also helps to develop power of sixth sense. If this is practiced regularly with the meditation it helps to open Third Eye which is called "Shiva Netra". With this power one can see the future and know what others are thinking.
