Colours play very important role in our life. Colours help in improving personality of a person. They make one feel Happy and also express person's feeling. Every person has his own opinion about the colours. Every person has some favourite colours. Every person is influenced with the colours. Colours are closely related to every part of our life. Colour has also become part of our daily language. While taking about our physical health, feelings, honors or for spiritual experience, we use colours. Many diseases can be healed with the help of colours and this is called Colour Therapy.

Our ancestors and saints were having ample knowledge of colours and their uses. The Indian calendar starts with the spring season in the month of Falgun. In this month, festival of Holi is celebrated in India. Holi is being celebrated by applying natural colours like yellow, red, green on each other's body. This strengthens our immune system and protects our body from all types of diseases and climates. Earlier people use to be healthier and normally less affected with the diseases. But slowly this has changed, people started disregarding principles of our ancestors and nature in the festival of Holi and our body started losing its power to fight with the illness. Today's situation is right in front of our eyes.

There are various examples by which we can understand the proper importance of the colours. For example: In our country, since ancient time, married women use to apply Red Bindi on their forehead. Red colour increases the blood circulation in the body. From the scientific point, this place is related to Pituitary Gland. It is also called as Master Gland and king of all the Glands. The Pituitary Gland controls all the other glands and produce different type of Hormones. This helps in keep women their homeliness. In opposed to this widow were asked to apply Chandan on the forehead to make them calm.

Our ancestors are using colours in different forms, since ancient time, to keep our body healthy and for the treatment of ailments. There are many therapies that have been evolved in the Colour Therapy, one of them is Acupressure and Acupuncture through colours, is very important. This has been founded by a Great Thinker, Philosopher and Scientist Dr. Sir Park Jew of Korea.

In Preksha Dhyan Therapy, founded by Acharya Mahapragyaji, practice of colour meditation (LeshyaDhyan) is unique and wonderful. As per this every person is surrounded by an Aura. Colours of that Aura keep changing with the thinking of a person. There is deep connection of Aura and thinking of a person. With the purity of thinking we can make our Aura pure.

Function and Effects of Colours

When the light of the sun rays passes through any object it reflexes it's dominant colour and other colour in that object are absorbed. This can be explained with following example.
When sun rays pass through grass, it reflects green colour and absorbs all other colour. Our eyes can see only reflected colour, hence Grass appears Green to our eyes.

The famous Indian scientist and Nobel Prize winner Prof. C. V. Raman has researched deeply on the working pattern of the colours. He has mentioned ... 'The colour of an object we see in the sunlight is one of the seven colours which is most dominant in that object. This colour reaches our eyes after diffusion and scattering that takes place. The colours of any object depend upon three aspects. The nature of sun rays, Light absorbed by the object and different types of researched colour rays.

The colour of the object that reaches our eyes is due to these aspects. Colours are divided into three stages. The first stage is Primary (Base) colour. Red, Yellow and Blue are primary colours. When primary colours are mixed in particular quantity, secondary colours are formed. Hence secondary colours are formed by mixing primary colours whereas by mixing other colours primary colour can't be obtained. When by mixing two colours a third colour is formed that these two colours are called complimentary colours.

Primary Colours: Red, Yellow, Blue. These three primary)(colours are the base (foundation) from which almost all other colours are obtained.

Secondary Colours: Secondary colours are formed by mixing two primary colours in different proportions,

Tertiary Colours: Tertiary colours are formed by mixing primary and secondary colours.
