JCYC Pathshala Class (May 17, 2015)

JCYC Pathshala Class on Sun May 17, 2015 will start at 8:40 AM

Please note that the Pathshala Class on Sun May 17, 2015 will start at 8:40AM instead of the regular time of 9:40AM. Yes - there is a 1 hour early start this week. This is necessary to accommodate the JCSC Anniversary Dhwaja Ceremony. We want our students to attend the Dhwaja ceremony on our JCSC Anniversary.

Advice for the Pathshala Students and their parents: Do not to miss Pathshala for next 3 classes.

We are nearing the end of the term for the current Pathshala year. In the next 3 weeks, all teachers will be conducting tests as well as preparing students for their summer break. We request all parents and students to make sure that they do not miss their classes for for the next 3 weeks, and also make sure that the students have completed all their home work. The class teachers will be sending separate emails to the class students as well.

27th Anniversary Celebrations of Jinalaya - (May 15 - 17, 2015)

Jain Center of Southern California is pleased to invite you all to celebrate the 27th Anniversary of our Jinalaya. JCSC EC, BOD and 27th Anniversary Planning Committee, along with help of volunteers has planned three days of program for the entire community.

Anniversary Programs include Religious and Cultural Celebrations as follows:
  • Friday - May 15, 2015 - 3:00 to 5:30 PM - Bhagvan Rushabhdev's Vandanavali in 22 pads.
  • Friday - May 15, 2015 - 7 PM - Bhavna Bhakti-Boli and Adesh for Sanghpati in procession. Laabh for Sanghpati will be to carry the main Dhwaja in procession, 18 Abhisheks and Atsthprakari puja of Shantinath bhagvan and Sidhhchakraji on Trighdu on 5/16, Divo in cultural program and preferred seating on 5/16.
  • Saturday - May 16, 2015 - 9 AM - Gathering in cultural hall -Shasan vandna, Dhwaja geet, ready with Ghadas, Dhwajas, Bhagvan, Dhoop, Deep, Chamar, Dharavadi, Raman divo for guided procession, with the theme of carrying 27 decorative Ghadas and 40 Dhwajas.
  • Saturday, May 16, 2015 - 12 PM to 5:30 PM - Snatrapuja,18 Abhisheks (as per schedule)
  • Saturday, May 16, 2015 - 7:00 PM - Aarti in Derasar,
  • Saturday, May 16, 2015 - 7:30 PM - Cultural Program in Hall. This includes Nrutya Bhakti, Dhoon, Maha Mangalkari Divo, Some Bolis, Raas Garba, and other items.
  • Sunday, May 17, 2015 - Snatrapuja, Satter Bhedi Puja, Divo, Gyan Bhandar Arpan, Dhwaja ceremony.

The three days program is organized to:
  • Celebrate 27 bhav of Mahavirswami on 27th Anniversary.
  • Sponsor new silver Gyan bhandar, new silver Divo, Contribution of silver for same.
  • Take any pledges with Nakro/Boli
  • Sponsor lunch, Navkarshi or Dinner to fulfill Swamivatsalya kartavya

Other Notes: 
  • Please wear puja clothes if you have taken the pledge of Rushabhdav vandanavali, snatrapuja, 18 Abhisheks, Satterbhedi puja, Dhwaja  or any other religious ritual, where you are touching bhagvan.
  • Please note Derasar will open at 6:30 AM on Saturday - 5/16 and Sunday - 5/17.
  • We request all beneficiaries to remain present on the day and the time of the event. If you are not present, laabh will be given to somebody else to observe the timings.
  • All leads and volunteers are requested to remain present with all preparation 30 minutes before the event starts. Please be patient and answer politely to community people.
  • Sunday, May 17, 2015 is the auspicious  day when we will have Snatrapuja, Satter Bhedi Puja, Divo &  Gyan Bhandar Arpan and the Dhwaja ceremony. All classes will be postponed except Pathshala.
  • No tables will be set up except for information and Nakro/Boli items.
  • No other activities to be conducted. All are requested to attend this grand ceremony.

Sadhana Program - (May 23 - 25, 2015)

JCSC is pleased to announce a "Sadhana" Program over the Memorial Day weekend in collaboration with Shrimad Rajchandra Mission, Dharampur, Los Angeles Center, in the Aradhana Hall during Saturday, May 23rd to Monday, May 25th from 7 am to  8 pm everyday.

This is a powerful program which initiates a seeker into meditation. Just as fire purifies gold, seekers too are purified in the fire of meditation.The program includes morning and evening prayers, yoga, meditation, introspection, jaap and Pujya Rakeshbhai's discourse videos.To get the most benefit, it is preferred to observe maun for 72 hours and attend the program for all three days. However, if that is not possible, you may choose to attend one or two days and must observe maun for a minimum of 12 hours during the program sessions. All participants are requested to:

  • Be on time.
  • Attend all sessions during the day.
  • Observe Maun for a minimum of 12 hours during the daily sessions.
  • Wear white clothes.
  • Bring your Samayik kit if you plan to do Samayik.
  • Bring Meditation chair, if needed.

Wellness Challenge - Drink 1 Ounce Of Water For Every 2 Pounds of Your Weight

For the upcoming weekly challenge we are challenging the participants to "drink 1 ounce of water for every 2 pounds of your weight.” Water is the main component of the human body. In fact, the body is composed of between 55 and 78 percent water, depending on body size. Adequate and regular water consumption has numerous health benefits. As an added plus, it has no calories, fat, carbohydrates or sugar. The amount of water you consume everyday plays an important role in maintaining a healthy body. JAINA Awards During  2015 Convention in Atlanta

Jain Center would like to congratulate following members for being honored with the coveted Jaina Award which is given every 2 years during the Jaina Convention.These awards are the recognization of their outstanding services to the community and Jainism. 
 
1) Mr. Girishbhai Shah -​  Special Recognition (Outstanding Scholar)
The award to respected Girishbhai Shah is not a conventional J​AINA​ Award since there is no such category for the award. He is however, being honored by this special award for his immense contribution to Jainism, not only to our center but to almost a dozen centers in USA as well as internationally.
 
2) Mr. Vijaybhai Chheda - 2015 JAINA Adult Recognition Award.
 
3) Mrs. Hasmitaben Parekh - 2015 JAINA Adult Recognition Award.
 
4) Mr. Sapan Doshi - 2015 JAINA Youth Recognition Award.

2) New JCYC Committee for 2015-2016:
 
We are pleased to announce that the JCYC Committee has been selected and will function for the Pathshala term 2015-2016. This committee will, however, start working immediately with the existing committee so that all activities can be easily taken care of. 
We wish the new committee members all the very best. If you meet any of these kids when you are at the temple next, please wish them good luck for their dedication towards our student community. They are our future!
