Mayanur

Mayanur is one of the famous tourist attractions in Karur District, which is situated bank of the River Cauveri and its comes under Krishnarayapuram Taluk's administration of Tamil Nadu State.

In the ancient medieval period, it is believed to have been a tri-junction midpoint of Chera, Chola and Pandiya dynasties, and The Madukkarai Wall is a historic border fortification demarcating the boundaries of the three ancient kingdoms. The wall was supposedly erected by the goddess Sellandiyamman. It may be over 2,000 years old.

Mayanur is located on Karur-Trichy National Highway (NH-37), 20 km from Karur city and 21 km from Kulithalai. It has five subdivision villages in it called Kaspa Mayanur, Keela Mayanur, Pudhu Street, Mela Mayanur and Kilinjanatham.
