Infernal, animal, human and divine are the four categories of age span.

Ayushya (age span) Karma is of four categories. That, which leads to divine or heavenly life, is called Devāyu; that, which leads to human life, is called Mānushyāu; that, which leads to sub-human (animals, insects, plant life etc.) life, is called Tīryanchāu and that, which leads to infernal life, is called Narakāyu.
