As the child grows, his curiosity grows. He has many questions. Everyone gives answers according to their own capabilities and perspectives. The teacher explains according to his understanding. If one comes across a saint or a noble or religious person, one likes to know about oneself. Such people like to contact astrologers and palmists in order to know his past as well as future. Alongside there is also the desire to know about one's life, what awaits in the future, what will be the progress as results of the present.
There are different kinds of knowledge. It is rare to find people with extra sensory perception, but there are a few. Sometimes one does meet them and they may also help satisfy one's curiosity about life, its future and past. To recall one's past life is a simple technique belonging to this genre. With a little practice and great desire, the door to the past can be opened. This practice will also allow a peep into the future. When one looks inwards, one gets to know oneself. Religion, philosophy, penance are all the roads that lead to such knowledge of the Self. When man turns inwards in a life characterized by computer movement, then he starts getting to know the self. The five elements of touch, smell, taste, hearing and sight give material happiness and make men long for more of the same. Body and the senses get engaged in this quest all through life. Life is spent in satisfying the needs and desires of the senses, which are worldly, materialistic. Once one is very close to death one feels that life had been led without any purpose, what should have been realized has not been attained. As far as materials are concerned they remain here. One only passes away from this earth with one's deeds.
