The Secret of Past Lives: Through Teevra Bhastrika

Published: 06.08.2017

If one stands in a hall with eyes blindfolded and practices Teevra Bhastrika, the body becomes energized. The entire body becomes charged with energy. The drawback of this technique is that the energy it generates can sometimes be too much for the meditating person to handle. It can go beyond his control and he can start crying. Sometimes he may fall down suddenly. At other times he may behave strangely, start yawning, or his body may become stiff, etc. At this point the trainer may pose different questions to him like - Who are you? Where are you? What are you seeing? This goes on to unfold what he or she was in the past lives.

In order to help people to train themselves for knowing about their previous birth a camp was organized where hundreds of people enrolled themselves because according to Acharya Mahapragya people who repeatedly practice this process are able to experience life and death while living. Such people who continue to experiment and experience the process of searching for the soul are able to establish that some people have succeeded in knowing the secrets of previous birth and rebirth. On the other hand there are people who do not get such experience. According to Acharya Sheelank people who are not sincere or not able to concentrate do not get such experiences. People who can meditate, get it, those who cannot do not experience it. (Those who got it were able to experience their previous birth and those experiences have been collected and published as " Journey into Previous Birth" and "Secrets of Previous Birth".)

Bhagvan Mahavir was able to witness his soul, through his penance. He was an exemplary person in the field of penance. His dictums on previous birth and rebirth are a challenge to the modern scientist. It is an inspiration and insight for people seeking the path of penance. A practitioner should know about himself, introspect and then practice: these words gave me inspiration. I was wondering that even though I had immense faith in the Agamas and the words of Bhagvan Mahavir, how could I myself find/establish the idea of previous birth as truth? According to Acharya Mahapragya there are three ways in which one gets to know about one's previous births. These are explained in the Acarang Bhashya.

Sahasammaiyaye para vagarannena annesim ya antaaye sochcha

A person gets to know about his previous birth either through self- introspection or through the insight of some great man or by hearing about it from a realized soul. He gets to know if he has come from the west or the east, north or the south, from the higher worlds of the netherworlds, from some other direction or from an unknown one.
