The Secret of Past Lives: Introduction

Published: 28.07.2017

An Unquenched Curiosity

We are living because we have been born. But why are we born? What is the purpose of our life? Or are we living just because we are infused with breath and the moment we stop breathing, we stop living? Are we like bubbles on the surface of water? Are we born to disappear?

We come with a purpose and are pushed into this birth due to our previous karmas. This body which is made of five elements, does it, dust unto dust dissolve and with that end the story of human life?

One cannot understand the variety in the kinds of living organisms that fill the earth nor can we understand the untold story of human existence. Is this all there is to the world? Why are we living in a state of confusion vis a vis others? Why do we swear enemity to some others? Is this life? Are we born for this purpose?

Relentlessly questions such as these plague us and we do not find answers and then a desire is aroused: the desire to address the root of these questions, to find the answers to these basic questions on life. How to do so?

The present is here. The future enters the present and dissolves into the past. When we are living in the present how can we ignore/forget the past or the future? We can forecast the future on the basis of some aspects of the present. And then use tools like astrology, face reading numerology etc to help us. From texts like Bhrigusamhita we get to know about the past.

If research on past and future lives is undertaken and accepted then automatically the existence of the soul is accepted. Once you accept the existence of the soul, the existence of karmas becomes self proven. Once the concept of karma is accepted then the manner of interacting with the world around us undergoes tremendous change. Through this moral values are re-established and moral character is reinstated thus ennobling human life. The atmosphere of violence, war and terrorism can then be changed.

This birth, past life and future life. If one is accountable in this life then why would one want to commit acts that lead to punishment? If no one troubles the other but people learn to live peacefully together, this life would indeed be so pleasant. In the hope that this world becomes more evolved, that every human being is a repository of bliss, sat-chid-anand, the exercise of recollecting the past is undertaken.

With the encouragement of Gurudev Acharya Mahapragya ji, the inspiration behind preksha dhyan and Acharya Mahashraman ji this book Secrets of our Past Lives acquired form.

In this book experiences of people who recollected their past lives have been recounted. Experiences of those who participated in the camps to experience previous births, held in Ladnun, Jaipur, Delhi, Udaipur etc., have been included. Z news presented a programme on this in their time slot for Mahakal. Aha Zindagi decided to publish it. It is because of the special request and interest of Yashwant Vyas, the chief editor that it could take the form of a book. I will always remember the support of Munishree Jaykumar, Munishree Himanshukumar, Munishree Nirajkumar in this endeavour of mine. The suggestions of Dr Mahendra Bhanavat have been useful. Science of Living Academy, central office, Director of Jain Vishva Bharati, Ladnun, Mr Sunderlal Mathur, Shree Hanuman mal Sharma and Shree Girija Shankar Dubey have contributed their time and effort. My appreciation to all of them.

My blessings to all those who have directly or indirectly contributed to the making of the book.
