Pranayam

(Breathing Exercise)

'Prana' is breath or force of life. It is the energy that keeps a man alive and active. 'Yam' is discipline exerted on breath to help live a long and healthy life. Pranayam, on one hand, helps to control and expand prana, on other hand, makes this energy independent and powerful. Practice of Pranayam helps prana flows through the 72,000 nadis and millions of cells in body.

Pranayam consists of inhalation, holding of breath and exhalation. The disciplining of prana (vital energy) and proper technique to channelize this prana is Pranayam. With help of Pranayam, man can be master of his breath, mind and prana thus rousing his dormant consciousness.
