Contorting a body into near impossible shapes is not an asana. The main objective of asana is to keep the body healthy, strong and to develop brain. An asana is a unique means to raise the state of human consciousness. Muscles of body become strong and body becomes shapely and attractive. Regular practice of asanas strengthens organs of the body. Organs that work nonstop-lungs, heart and brain function more efficiently. The excess fat around abdomen and waist decreases, thus reducing obesity. Cells becomes more active and function systematically helping body to cure itself of diseases. The narrow mindedness of a person is reduced and wisdom emerges with opportunity to enter the spiritual world. The capacity to control mind is enhanced, speech becomes free and faultless. Mind and soul achieve greater heights. It has been proved time and again that asanas work not just on body but enhance the power of mind as well.
