The importance of asanas has been proven as we have already seen how the asanas helps to keep us healthy. In the true sense of the word, an asana is akin to a tonic that keeps disease at bay and helps harness energy in body. But there are a few conditions in which certain asanas must not be practiced.

  1. Shirshasana is to be avoided by those with weak eyes and a weak heart and by those suffering from problems related to ears and nose.
  2. Shalabasana, Bhujangasana and Dhanurasana is to be avoided by those who have stomach related problems, an enlarged spleen and a weak liver and kidney.
  3. Paschimotanasana is to be avoided by those who suffer from constipation.
  4. A tough asana like Shirshasana is to be avoided by those who suffer from problems related to ears and nose.
  5. Uddiyasana is to be avoided by those with a weak heart.
  6. Those with weak lungs should avoid gravity defying asanas.
