Leshyadhyana [Perception of Psychic Colours] and Svasthya [health]

It can be considered a rule that there would be a tendency to commit violence to the extent that the colours have an evil effect on a person. There would be abstinence from violence to the extent that the colours have a good effect on him. According to the modern science of the colours, a person would be less prone to commit violence if the violet colour is good for him. However, if the violet colour is not good for him, it has a bad effect on him he would tend to be more violent. Similarly, telling lies, stealing, non-observance of celibacy and possession of wealth too are related to the colours. If a person is getting too angry, becomes too irritated, it would be necessary to find out under the impact of which colour he is living.

It is an incident of USSR. Students of one school were very impudent and rebellious. The teachers were worried. They think how all those students had become so impertinent. What was the reason? They called the doctors and discussed the problem with the specialist, but they could find no explanation. One day a specialist of colour-science came there. He studied the problem deeply and he knew the reason. He said, "It is natural that the students have become impudent: The walls, the rooms in this school have been painted in the dark red colour. Even the curtains hanging at the windows are of the dark red colour. When there is such profusion of the dark red colour, there is bound to be restlessness. Where there is restlessness and heat of excitement, impudence is natural. The colour scientist suggested, "Remove these red curtains. Change the colour of the rooms. Use the blue colour instead of the red.“ The authorities implemented this suggestion. The problem of impudence ended. All the students very naturally calmed down.

Let us analyse this and find out to what extent the colours influence one's nature. When there was the red colour all around, all became impudent. When it was replaced with the blue colour, all became sober. Anger, conceit, deceit, and greed are all connected with the colours. Therefore, when any person thinks about health and the diseases and ignores the colour factor and the leshyas, he cannot probably be completely healthy. While thinking about health, it is very necessary to know which colour is having its influence.

There was a man in Mumbai who kept very ill and suffered from persistent fever. He tried all kinds of treatments like allopathic, homeopathic, etc., but without avail. Finally, he called a well-known doctor from Calcutta, who gave him the gem-ray treatment. He examined the patient's whole body and discovered the cause o f his illness. He said to the patient, "That ring you are wearing on your finger is the cause of your persistent fever. Do not wear it any more." He promptly removed the ring. The physician said, "The gem which is studded in this ring contains too many rays. The radiation of these rays can also have a harmful effect. Therefore, keep the ring in another room. The patient who had been suffering from fever did exactly what he was told. As a result, the fever from which he had been suffering for years, did not last even till the evening.

Both illness and health have a close connection with the colours. Bhagvan Mahavira propounded the principle of leshya. He mentioned six leshyas based on six colours. It is merely an indication. If we go into detail, there can be innumerable colours, which can also be analysed on the basis of the principle of leshya and the conclusion can be drawn about the impact of a particular colour.
