Mrs. Gangadevi Dugar, a faithful devotee aged 92 years, had her residence in Ladnun. At that time she had a tumour of 20 Kg,. in her stomach. Though she was suffering from severe pain, she silently endured it. She used to think, “Body is mortal. Due to the rise of ‘Vedaniya (pain-giving) Karma, I am experiencing this pain. This has to be tolerated calmly in order to shed my karma”. She realised that she will not live much longer, so she accepted lifelong fast.
It was the 24th day of her fasting. At 11 a. m., she said, “I will pass away today.” After two hours she repeated, “Today at 6 p.m., I will achieve my goal.” Around 12.45 p. m., the nuns arrived to see her. Suddenly, Mrs. Dugar raised her hand to signify something.
The nuns asked, “Who is there? Can you see anybody? '
Mrs. Dugar replied. “I am seeing Swamiji.”
She felt endless tranquillity and said joyously, “Now l can leave this world in peace.”
In the afternoon, she was engrossed in prayers and was deeply chanting the Mantra ‘Om Bhikshu, Jai Bhikshu.’
At the stroke of four, she said, “Vaimanik devata has come and I have to go at six.” She kept repeating this sentence. She was so calm, that it seemed she was going on a short visit to some relative’s place. This story spread out in the whole town like a jungle fire. Most of people of the town gathered at her house with the curiosity and wondered, “Will she take her last breath at six p. m. sharp?”
Everybody was sceptical about the prediction. As many mouths as many tongues. Everybody’s eyes were on the clock. Sharp at 6 p. m., Mrs. Dugar left her mortal body for her heavenly abode. The people of the town bowed their heads towards Mrs. Dugar’s devotion and her faith in Swamiji.
