Mrs. Kanchandevi Kathotia of Ladnun carried on her business of selling local foodstuff honestly. Someone jealously complained that she had adulterated the eatables. She made an appeal to the Judge that her products were pure, but the Judge too was corrupt and declared her guilty.
The jealous people thought that since she was a woman, she could not harm them and wanted her to be looked down upon. A suit was filed. The case continued for one and a half year. She fought bravely. At last the date for final judgement was declared, It was clear that if she lost the case she would be imprisoned.
Chaos prevailed in the whole house. The most embarrassing situation existed that although she was innocent yet she was considered a criminal. Thinking that their mother would be imprisoned, children ‘started weeping. Right at that moment one of her daughters named Kamla consoled everybody and said, “Don’t be afraid, Lord Bhikshu is with us. We are the followers of true religion. These corrupt people cannot harm us. Today we are passing through a critical period. So to overcome this, we should chant the Mantra, “Om Bhikshu.”I also make a resolution that I would fast on the 13th day -of bright moonlight”.
At night, all the" family members recited the Mantra. The next morning before going to the court, Mrs. Kathotia chanted the Mantra for an hour and remembering Bhikshu Swami left for the court. After.a long session of arguments from both the sides, judgement was delivered in favour of Mrs. Kanchan Devi. Judge declared her innocent. She compared the present situation with the earlier and realised a great difference. How it happened, she could not understand. She thought that this had happened only because of Swamiji’s blessing. ‘
