Bolaram is the suburb of Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra Pradesh. There resides the family of Kanamalji Sancheti. This family has a keen faith in the Terapanth Order. Kanamalji has four sons. The name of the third son is Ashok. He looks after a factory twenty-five km, away from Bolaram. He would always leave home early in the morning and return at night. And this had become his routine. One day, somebody told him about a shortcut to Bolaram through the forest. This way to Bolaram would be just twelve km In the beginning, he hesitated to take that route because of the dangerous forest. But he summoned up his courage and went through the jungle. After a few days, he was not afraid to go through the forest any more. Sometimes even in the middle of the night he was not scared to come through that way.

On the night of 30th of Dec. 1986, at about nine o’clock, Ashok was going to Bolaram on a scooter. On the way, two unknown persons signalled him to stop, but Ashok accelerated the speed of his scooter. He became slightly suspicious but continued to go fearlessly. Hardly had he gone a little further, when two persons with sticks in their hands tried to stop him again. This time he increased the speed of the scooter again and managed to escape.

Ashok began to tremble, but he still continued speedily to proceed further. But again he was waylaid by three men with sticks. They attacked him from all sides and hit him so hard that he fell down and became unconscious.

The total number of robbers who had attacked him was seven. One pushed down his scooter. Two others began to beat him and drag him along.

After sometime when he regained his consciousness, he found himself thrown into a drain which was almost a hundred feet away from the road. He was totally trapped. Sometimes he would faint and sometimes he would regain consciousness. During these moments of pain and terror he could see nothing but death before him.

Suddenly when he gained consciousness, he felt a unique flow of strength within himself and started to chant the Mantra ‘Om Bhikshu’. While chanting the Mantra he spoke out aloud, “I have money and you may take it.

When the robbers heard these words they released his hands and started starling at him. Ashok took out four hundred rupees from his pocket and gave it to them. All the robbers were busy in dividing the money and in the meantime Ashok picked up one of the sticks. He started revolving the stick along with chanting of the Mantra ‘Om Bhikshu’ at the top of his voice. Divine light replaced the darkness of the forest. Looking at this light, the robbers disappeared. When he was sure that the robbers had gone away from there, he wrapped up his courage and slowly moved towards the road. He was bleeding profusely and was very much perturbed, In this grave situation, he very patiently tried to find his scooter which was lying a little far away. Somehow he managed to find the scooter and started it. But he was not sure of the way that would lead him to Bolaram. Just then he saw two people on bicycles and he asked them the way and could know that it is leading him to Alwal, a suburb of Bolaram where his family doctor Shashi stayed. Ashok took the right path and reached the doctor’s house and found that the doctor had gone to Bolaram. The compounder was sitting there and Ashok explained everything to; him. Thereafter, he had fainted. The compounder contacted Ashok’s residence. at Bolaram. Immediately his family members rushed to the spot with the doctor. When they saw Ashok’s critical condition they all became very worried.

The doctor wanted to start his treatment, but he could not do so because it was a police case, and so he was hospitalised after a long period of treatment, Ashok became healthy again.

Only the name of Swamiji saved Ashok’s life from being robbed, and accident.
