Sadhvi Anandshreeji was passing the Chaturmas at Madaria. Great penance is usually undertaken in the month of Shravana by the devotees. In this context, Sadhviji inspired Hiralalji to undergo penance. He expressed his inability to do so, because he was not able to fast even for a day. But inspired by the nuns, he kept fast for one day. Seeing his good health, they asked him to continue the fast for the next day also like this Hiralalji remained on fast for seven days. Everybody in the village was surprised to hear this news.
On the 7th night, he felt faint. Some blamed the nuns while others blamed his family members. Some people said that this deadly situation arose because of those who encouraged him for fasting. In the morning, there was even a rumour that he was no more.
The nuns were very much worried on hearing this news. They realised that the prestige of the whole sect was at stake. Sadhvi Anandshreeji could not sleep the whole night. She started to chant Om Bhikshu to retrieve the prestige of the sect.
In the morning, the nuns went to Hiralalji’s house. His condition was serious. The started reciting the auspicious Mantra before him and very soon he regained consciousness. Everybody asked him, "What happened?"
He replied, “It is 8th day of my penance, I am just feeling weak. There is nothing to worry about.”
Finally the nuns inspired him to do the Japa the whole day and he completed his penance successfully.
