Jeevan Vigyan - A Guide Of Teachers Training: 02.1 ►The Syllabus of Science of Living

There is a sign of interrogation in front of the present syl­labus that why the character building is not being possible in a desired form through education. It is the responsibility of the edu­cationists, that the syllabus framing should be such, that it can build the character of the students. This is possible only when the teaching style and syllabus is life oriented. This effort of Science of Living is an indispensable step in the world of education. It has been constructed keeping in mind the Indian philosophy, tradi­tion, yoga, moral education, constructive thoughts, contempla­tion, knowledge of values and changes in biological phenomena. The instruction and practical application of which may produce the total success in education.

By the goal of allotting less for the theory (40 percent) and more for the practice (60 percent) the activities and education of Science of Living is formulated as follows:

  1. "Jeevan Vigyan yoga" in the prayer assembly-15 to 20 min.
  2. Jeevan Vigyan Yoga in classroom between two periods, if it is not possible to launch it as a subject.
  3. Every week 1 theory and 5 practical periods of Jeevan Vigyan as a subject twice a week 2 hrs each.
  4. Jeevan Vigyan activities as Co-curricular activities such as Jeevan Vigyan carrier club. (JCC) Jeevan Vigyan in sports, Jeevan Vigyan Question Quiz, Jeevan Vigyan oriented one-act-play and dialogue.

Even the achievement of the goals is possible by starting the above mentioned 1,2 and 4 in addition to the existing school activi­ties. A student should neither be over loaded nor should need extra time for its application. Total achievement of the goal is possible of course only with subject-based education in Science of Living.

Basis of the Subject - Science of Living

It is requiring to be known that this is a research based syllabus .The first research, conducted at Gandhi teacher’s Training College, sardharshahar (University of Education) was a successful effort. Prof Vera Raghavan did a study to see the impact and influence  Jeevan vigyan teaching on the students of Delhi school, Prof. S L Mathur, conducted a study, which was supported NCERTon the school going children of Ladnun (Rajasthan). In this way the technique of Science of Living, which is established by AcharyaMaliapragya is being proved. A research centre and postgraduate education in M.A.is in progress for last l4years,at Ladnun based Jain Vishva Bharati Institute (Deemed University). It has been accepted as a part of their syllabus in the schools by many states. The details of the syllabus are being given in chapter 4,5,6,7 of this present book guide.

Utility of Science of Living

The benefits derived from Science of Living are not lim­ited to the students. The benefits have been established in all walks of life. It is equally useful for the teachers and guardians. First of all the teachers are required to be trained in the education of Sci­ence of Living. By practicing the various aspects of Science of Living, guardians also can bring a change in their life. A govern­ment employee, a business person, an administrator, a judge etc can also be benefited by the practice of Science of Living. In brief, Science of Living is very useful in development of balanced and healthy personality to construct a new society and in the cre­ation of a new generation.
