Ego is generator of anger. This is such an emotion, which spreads the bitterness and is an obstacle in the society. Anger emerges with crookedness of the belief the self to be the best. Because of the ego the development of personality rums to spread the bitterness and with this the society becomes unhealthy.

Causes of Ego

  1. The causes for anger are the same for ego and apart from those, the chromosomes or the hormones which are accumulated by the karma shareer, when starts secreting; the ego
    emerges. Through ego, anger emerges.
  2. In the family enclosure also there are elements, which are re­sponsible for the growth of ego. In the family where any child or any other member is given special attention, his ego emerges naturally.
  3. In the social setup few class, castes, groups etc., presumes superior to others. They count the other class, caste and groups to be lower than them. As a result the ego grows in the supe­rior class, castes and groups.
  4. The high positioned persons enjoy more luxuries. They also enjoy special rights and the rise in their ego is because of that. This is more seen amongst the state and central positioned officials and public representatives.

Effects of Ego

  1. The cause of emerging anger being ego; so all the ill effects due to anger are also found in the body.
  2. The one who do not listen to the virtue of egoistic creates snuggle among them and violence spreads among them too.
  3. The egoistic person wants to impose his thoughts on others. Democracy evolved because of egoistic attitude of rulers and their courtship and it established the theory "of the people, for the people and by the people" in our constitution.
  4. Today the system of keeping the slaves is discarded which was because of few people's ego. Today it has been replaced by terrorism.
  5. Mental and physical chiding is also the result of ego.
  6. Today the differences between caste, creed, colour, gender as well as the differences between the developed countries and the developing countries is seen because of ego only; and because of that practise the mutual competitions are becom­ing more intense.
  7. The reasons for war and world war are also due to the ego of the ruler class. Without ego neither can anybody invade nor can violate the other.

Removal of the causes of Ego

  1. Have balanced diet. Do not make much use of spices. Main­tain the simplicity in food, house and dressing so that the others do not experience the feeling of inferiority complex.
  2. Change the attitude. Resolute a very small Anuvrat that I will not degrade any body because of caste, class, gender or colour, etc.
  3. For the development of the feeling of friendliness, practise the contemplation of friendliness. (Time - 5 min.)
  4. Practise vandanasana and shashankasana.
  5. Maintain the respect for language. One should not hate any­body on the ground of the language.
  6. Practise silence - At the center of enlightenment or at the center of forehead meditate with bright white colour. Have the feeling that the ego is pacifying, anger is reducing impulses and emotions are calming down.(3 to 5 min.)
  7. Kayotsarg- In the night before going to bed, make the body steady, relax and feel stress free. Have a feeling of friendliness with all the specie, (time 5min)
  8. The postures, in which anger glitters, should be avoided. The emotion will be in accordance with the posture one adopts. The posture will show the nature of the feelings. So be aware. Whenever the egoistic posture occurs, for its change start prac­tising Vinay Mudra.
  9. The desires of the egoistic person become endless and turn to craving. A person starts performing all kinds of insincere acts to fulfill them. Only when the ego and anger are pacified to large extent, one can save himself or herself from craving, cheating and delusion, otherwise latter on cheating and delu­sion rums in to stress. Hence it is essential to think over the stress and discard it. It is the stress, which may be the cause for many problems.
