Jeevan Vigyan - A Guide Of Teachers Training: 03 ►Science of Living in the Prayer Assembly

Published: 31.05.2021

Prayer is an expression of creative (Positive) thoughts. Prayer is not begging but the expression of pious inner feelings. It is not merely a ritual but the determination of awakened mind. Since prayer fulfills that determination, it has been customary in the schools to begin the work after praying the god.

Our mind has three parts, first is conscious mind second is subconscious mind and the third is unconscious. Child uses his conscious mind when he studies. Mind wanders due to lack of concentration and its preoccupation. At that point of time, BHAVKRIYA is broken. During the state of Bhavkriya, mind gets absorbed in that action. Study is not possible when mind is absorbed in dreams and imagination. Concentration and the absorption into it are essential for the studies. The state of Bhavkriya occurs when the student remains conscious and performs everything knowingly. This state of mind is attained through "Science of living."

  1. Through prayer a child has an access to conscious, sub-conscious and unconscious all the three parts of the mind.

  2. Because of concentration. The mind stops wandering.

  3. The child learns with Bhavkriya (performs everything knowingly, consciously).

By following the instructions in Kayotsarg the child can learn a chapter in 5-10 minutes, which he used to learn in hours. Attainment of bhavakriya increases his efficiency in work. In prayer one dedicates oneself fully to God, to creative thoughts, that increases the possibilities of development. Along with dedication it is also necessary to increase the capability. Faith in truth and polite behaviour both develop the capability of a person.

Asana (meditation postures) and pranayama (conscious breathing exercises) are good for health. A healthy body and flexible backbone make the child strong and brilliant. It is necessary for a student to have a healthy body, healthy mind and healthy emotions. Therefore, it was thought that prayer assembly should be made a 15 minute programme to inculcate good values in the child and to make him healthy and disciplined.

Impact of Prayer Assembly

  1. Prayer develops the feeling of dedication.

  2. Asana and Pranayama make the body healthy and tolerant.

  3. Kayotsarg and Preksha Meditation keep the mind conscious and peaceful.

  4. Determination gives rise to creative thoughts.

  5. Reverence is increased through prayer.
