Anupreksha [contemplation] and Svasthya [health]

If we evaluate anupreksha in the context of this analysis, it can be said from the point of view of spiritualism that these anuprekshas are the formulas for the emotional transformation. If we think about it from the point of view of health, it can be said that these anuprekshas are unfailing means to have good health. Subsidence of kashayas is the key-formula not only of spiritual pursuit but also health as well. It can never be imagined that a person who is in the tight grip of kashaya can ever be healthy physically, mentally or emotionally.

When the hold of kashayas is strong, health would be definitely affected. Blood circulation is one factor that promotes good health. Every cell of the body needs oxygen. What is it that carries oxygen in the body? It is the blood that does it. If the blood flows properly in the whole body, the cells get a new life. They get nourishment and oxygen. Without these, the cells become absolutely useless. Whenever kashayas, that is the feelings of anger, conceit, maya and greed, are strong, the blood circulation is affected. When it is affected too much, the blood even becomes poisonous and the blood circulation even ceases. In such a situation, many illnesses can have a chance to manifest themselves.

Anupreksha provides the solution to all these problems. That is why those who are proficient in spiritual practice say that it is the formula for the emotional transformation of personality development. If the health experts would follow this method, their words would be, "There can be no better formula for health than this".
