Mahavira's Scripture Of Health: [11.08] Prekshadhyana And Health - Let Us Trust Ability To Perceive

The problem is that we have no trust in perception, no faith in it. If we can develop firm faith in this ability and perceive with self-confidence, the whole process of perception would change. The sadhaka concentrates on the psychic centres, he practises the body perception. This is no recitation of a deity's name. It is no sound and it is not any mantra either. It is only perception, when we begin 'seeing' all the organs get activated. This is the power of perception. Let us have trust in the fact that the ability to perceive is a strange power. The reason for this is that when we see with the eye, electricity emanates from the eyes.

There are some sources in our body from which electricity emanates. Considerable electricity comes out through our eyes, speech and fingers. The person, who is adept in the touch-therapy, touches the patient with his fingers and the patient gets instant relief. Those who do the massage are experts in that work. The same people press the legs and the pain vanishes. Some people just pass their hand over the patient's body, touch with their hand and the pain goes.

A person said, "Brother, stroke the body a little."

He was an expert in the touch-therapy. He touched him with the hand and in a little while, the pain was gone. How did the pain disappear without any medicine? This happens because the electricity coming out from the fingers enters the body and it diffuses the pain. Those who do the massage are such experts that by mere touch of their fingers, they cure the pain. Just as electricity comes through our fingers and restores the health of the body, electricity also emanates from our speech. Utterance of one word, such use of the speech and out comes electricity with a powerful impact and the sick person rises on his feet. Utterance of some other word and a person, who was not sick, becomes sick. That electricity works in its own way, which can result in positive as well as negative acts.

The third main source is the drishti, which is the seeing from eyes. One's eyes emanate electricity and affect the person towards whom it is directed. The feeling lies in the background of this electricity. If electricity emanates from the eyes when a person's feelings are positive, it makes the other person healthy. But when the emotions are negative, the electric rays coming from the eyes of that person are like a curse and of sub dual natural and make the other person feel sick. This is what the eye does. If we close our eyes and 'see with inner eye, it can work more effectively. We may 'see' with inner eye. If we 'see' the other person with our inner eye, it can have its effect on the patient. It also affects whichever organ of our own body we may 'see' with the inner eye.

Jethabhai Jhaveri came to me several years ago. He was suffering from some disease. He was having a collar round his neck. He said, "I cannot sit straight. I am forced to wear the collar round my neck." He was asked to practise the prana-sanchar: It is a practice of perceiving. He was a wise person. The very next day, he sat facing the sun early in the morning and began practising the prana-sanchar. He continued this practice for many days and ultimately his collar was gone. He began sitting straight. I asked him, "How did this happen? Did you take any medicine?" He said, "This is the result of practising the prana-sanchar. I have also stopped the medicines which I had been taking."
