One question came with regard to the routine food of ascetic: Should the ascetic take completely dry food or should be take completely oily food? In reply to that question, it was said that the ascetic should sometimes take dry food and sometimes oily food. If he wants to exercise his intellect, to keep his kidneys healthy, to maintain good health, he would have to take oily food. But if he takes oily food through out, it would lead to a number of diseases. The problems of mental illness and lust would also arise. If he continuously takes dry food, it would harm his health, he would be required to have repeated urination, he would have difficulty about urinating and would have to face countless obstacles in his scholarly pursuits. If his continuous intake of oily food gives rise to more perversities, the continuous intake of dry food results in anger and mental irritation. Balance should be maintained between these two types of food by taking sometimes greasy food and sometimes dry food. The representing words relating to it, Abhekkhanam Nivvigai gavaya means to avoid repeated consumption of solid and oily food.
